Musim raya + cuti sekolah

OK, Cikgu nak cakap dalam BM pula ya. Sempena dengan Hari Raya dan cuti sekolah ini (4-13 September 2010), Cikgu nak ucap selamat hari raya kepada semua guru-guru prasekolah , murid-murid cikgu, para ibu bapa yang dihormati serta semua yang mengakses blog ini. Maaf di atas kekasaran, kesilapan dan kesalahan yang cikgu lakukan. Kita manusia tak lari dari khilaf.

Cuti ni kamu beraya di mana? Walau di mana pun kamu bercuti, ingat ..jaga keselamatan..dan jangan lupa kerja rumah yang cikgu kasi tu tau!...kalau panjang umur, ada rezeki, kita akan berjumpa selepas raya nanti. Kalau tak,  maknanya mungkin cikgu berada di rumah sedang dalam pantang..jaga baby..jaga diri baik-baik.

Aaliyah Jadi Model Iklan!

Few weeks ago, Aaliyah Natasha bt. Gadaffi told me that she had been selected to act as a model for PTP (an acronym for Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas) kid model for the "Merdeka Day" commerial. I was surprised and I gave her mum an sms asking for the snapshot. So here it is!

Happy Ramadhan and Merdeka Day

Praises be to Allah s.w.t as HE prolongs our life to experience another blessing season of Ramadhan. Prasekolah Permata Hati are so glad to welcome the holy month.  May all the things we do (in the name of worships) will be blessed by Allah. Amiiin..

We also would like to wish Happy Merdeka Day to all Malaysians, particularly those who view this blog. Living in a free government like Malaysia doesn't mean that we are free to do anything.  We are still meant for some  limits and boundaries. Only the obedients follow the rule. So, love our country, and love the meaning of independence we've been living in 53 years of time. MERDEKA!!

PERHATIAN..

Saya ingin maklumkan di sini, aplikasi pendaftaran prasekolah bagi sesi 2011 secara online menghadapi masalah buat sementara waktu. Ibu bapa yang berminat mendaftarkn anak-anak untuk tahun depan diminta datang terus ke kelas Prasekolah Permata Hati- SK Bandar UDA (2) dan mengambil serta mengisi borang secara manual. Jika anak anda berjaya, keputusan akan dimaklumkan melalui panggilan telefon. Sekian, harap maklum.

WHY DO I CHOOSE PHONETIC?

The reason is simple. Because I want my kids able to read (instead of wanting them to recognize the letters.)

Comparing the situation last year, I was wandering the best way to let them reading in early age. It is difficult to prepare them with reading skill by introducing  the alphabets. To me it didn't work out, until  I attended a course in Klang which gave a space for me to breathe. I believe, by applying the module introduced in the course, at least I can face the school administration who always want my kids to be good in literacy.

Maybe it sounds weird when they hear the way my kids pronounce the words. For example: batang, serang, jering, of diphtong like suai, pulau, petai.  Actually, it is mainly based on the SOUND of the alphabets, not the alphabets themselves. I know, I have to work harder to convince them that this method work out.

But, all in all, there's nobody can change someone to be a better person but himself. He is the one who has a special drive to get him out of illliteracy. If he wills to change, he will change. There is no the best teacher or professor can do it.

Ada beberapa perkara JANGAN yang perlu ibu bapa tahu supaya tidak menyusahkan anak-anak apabila mengajar membaca.





JANGAN ajar nama-nama huruf contohnya ‘ei’ untuk huruf ‘a’, ‘bi’ untuk huruf ‘b’ dan seterusnya kerana anak-anak yang tahu nama-nama huruf tidak semestinya dapat membaca. Bahkan mengajar mengenal nama huruf a, b, c adalah halangan pertama membaca.


JANGAN ajar anak mengeja-eja huruf pada perkataan-perkataan yang dilihat kerana mengeja melibatkan dua proses iaitu menyebut nama huruf dan membatang pola-pola ejaan.


JANGAN ajar anak mengenal bunyi huruf sambil mengenalkan nama huruf sekaligus, contohnya seperti menyebut ‘ei’ (huruf ‘a’) bunyinya ‘a’ kerana anak tidak perlu tahu nama huruf untuk membaca.


JANGAN ajar anak menghafal mana-mana suku kata atau perkataan apabila mula mengenal perkataan kerana kanak-kanak akan terbeban dengan ratusan pola-pola ejaan yang menyukarkan.


JANGAN ajar huruf-huruf besar dahulu kepada kanak-kanak kerana huruf besar tidak penting kepada kanak-kanak pada peringkat awal.


Jadi apakah yang BOLEH dalam mengajar anak membaca mengikut kaedah fonetik? Membaca mengikut kaedah fonetik melibatkan proses awal berikut; Memperkenalkan bunyi secara sistematik



anak-anak perlu tahu bunyi huruf – iaitu dapat menyebut bunyi dan ingat bunyi huruf yang diajarkan


anak-anak perlu kenal huruf – iaitu bentuk, rupa dan cara tulis huruf tersebut


anak-anak dapat mengaitkan huruf yang dilihat dengan bunyi yang berkaitan

THE 2011 PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION IS GOING ONLINE...ENROL NOW!

The registration for the next year session of Prasekolah Permata Hati is now open!
Parents are highly welcomed to access the page (refer to the link stated above) for registering your kids. But, make sure, you've fulfilled the following conditions (read in BM):
(Effective to all preschool classes under Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia)

i. Warganegara Malaysia Sahaja - Merujuk kepada peraturan-peraturan (penerimaan kemasukan murid ke sekolah rendah).



ii. Kanak-kanak yang mencapai umur 5 tahun pada hari pertama bulan Januari dalam tahun persekolahan semasa.(1 Jan 2010)


iii. Mengikut pendapatan perkapita berdasarkan pendapatan Garis Kemiskinan.


iv. Merit berdasarkan ranking pendapatan ibubapa/penjaga dari rendah ke tinggi. Kadar jumlah murid bagi setiap kelas ialah tidak lebih daripada 25 orang.


v. Proses pemilihan murid prasekolah KPM hendaklah dibuat oleh Jawatankuasa prasekolah.

MEETING: KPM PRESCHOOL OF ZON SKUDAI

A preschool meeting has been held on last Thursday (22nd July) )and it mainly focused on Karnival Prasekolah Zon SKudai 2011. The meeting, chaired by the new principal of SK Seri Perling 2, Puan Noraini determined that the carnival will be on 25th September 2010. There are many competitions the pupils can participate: Malay n BI storytelling, reading in BM and BI, poem recitation, hafazan, colouring contest, singing, a ne competition- Bijak Matematik and fashion show.

CUTE FROGGIE


The theme for this week is "Tumbuhan Tidak Berbunga", but after browsing some preschool online pages, I found this awesome art. Making paper frogs. All I need to do iS just to print out the worksheet and ask pupils to colour, cut along the line and to fold it. Simple and as usual the most beauiful froggie will be sticked on the "Kreativiti" board. Tomorrow, I'm looking for another paper-based art concerning on "Tumbuhan Tidak Berbunga". Maybe how to trace fernleaf patterns?..Just check it out.

I spread my apology to all viewers of this blog. It takes so long until I am able to fix my memory card problem.  Finally, I got few pictures for you. Nevertheless, I will come later to give you a bit  story about the activities.

Open Day (26th July)

Among the ativities which have been organized: Talk by Puan Amera and Puan Rahimah Hamzah(Remedial Teacher), Prizegiving to all outstanding figures in Permata Hati, children's performance (reading, action song and singing) and the submission of children's report cards.

MIDTERM EXAM..OPEN DAY...

School's in! The exam papers which have been marked are ready to be distributed to all pupils. No shocking result happened. Those who are selected to received special compliment from us must be happy as we have prepared some gifts for them. (They don't know who they are and there could be a surprise they never imagine ehehe.)

Apart form that, I have trained few pupils to perform before their parents during the Open Day. Those who will perform are:


-Hanis Farisya (singing a song called "Baca Buku")
-Aaliyah Natasha (reading a chant called "Five Shiny Bugs")
-An action song team with a song entitled "A Small World".


I hope they can give the best performance not only for their parents, but for themselves too.

It's kindy mentioned that the PPH (acronym for Prasekolah Permata Hati) administration team had been busy lately since we are preparing the pupils for the midterm examination.

SPECIAL...SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SPECIAL.

The school holiday just around the corner. When I render the things I've done so far, I can't help to feel ashamed. Just because there are 6 "special and unique kids" in my class, I start to feel that I am an unsuccesful teacher. I feel bashful since  it is difficult to teach them reading. Until now,  the best skills they have gained is only reading KV+KV.

(I want to write more, but as I have to prepare for school, my hubby and baby, I have to say bubbye..I promise you to be back later.. )

LINUS OH LINUS!!

The first time I heard this new term was on 30th December 2009. That day, we organized a registration session. The children who have been selected to attend my class in 2010 registered their names along with their parents..

During a talk delivered by Puan Herlina Adam (a former KIA2M coordinator), she mentioned the term LINUS .to my first knowledge. I wonder the difference between LINUS and KIA2M and how the assessment will be conducted.

She told that LINUS  which stands for (Literacy & Numeral Screening) is a progamme for assessing pupils' ability in Literacy and Numerals skills. It is basically focused on BM and Mathematics and all their related skills (including reading, writing, listening, speaking).

As far I am concerned, KIA2M have bee designed to fit the ministry's need for preparing Year 1 pupils who are lacking basic skills in reading and writing before they proceed to Year 2. Pupils in this programme will be equipped with basic literacy skills as long as they can show their ability to read and write.

Starting from this year, the ministry looks further by inroducing numeral skills as another basic skill that pupils have to undergo. Pupils tend to know the basic operations in Mathematics like adding, substracting, multiplying and dividing numbers. Not only that, pupils also should be able to differentiate quality among variety of items. They have to know how to distinguish the day and night, value of Malaysian currency, length or sizes of items..

I've seen the sample of LINUS papers and I think it is a bit tough for average pupils facing such questions. Only chosen few will be pass through. After sitting for the screening test, pupils will be put in different classes, showing how good they are in answering LINUS questions. They are 3 categories of classes; Perdana, LINUS and Tegar (according to their ability respectively)

I would like to remind you (viewers), those who fall under LINUS  categories couldn't be seen as "malnutricious", stupid, illiterate, awful, clueless or any related terms. Most of them are able to read and write but it is different in the way the assessment is made. Pupils are assessed in holistic way. They have to show their confidence and literacy in listening passage or statement and be able to talk about it. They must be able to extract the thing they know into words in verbal manner. In other sense, if they cannot talk, it is hard for them to be in good classes (Perdana). In most situation, if they fail to complete it, they will be labeled stupid, don't know how to read and whatnot. As a result,  teachers who prepare them for early education (including kindergartens and preschools) will be blamed. They can't do their job very well, can't take responsibilities or not able to finish such an easy job to educate small children. This stigma is normal and by any means we (the preschool teachers) have to face it.

Whether we want it or not, we have to face it. We have to do ALL WE CAN to equip them with "LINUS knowledge" and get ready to be smashed. This is the fact we have to face. End.

On 8th May, I was among few teachers from SKBU2 who attended a course on  "Professionalisme Keguruan".  The course was held at JOTIC, which situated in the heart of JB.  Datuk Shahrir Samad, the MP of JB came as the VIP who officiated the closing ceremony.
Those who were giving talk were En. Aminuddin Adam (PPDJB), En. Akbar Abdullah (lecturer,KUTHO) and Hema Nair a/p SUppariam (Counsellor, Permai Hospital).

27th April 2010."Hari Anugerah Cemerlang" and "AGM of PIBG"..All female teachers decided to wear blue dresses.
